Buni inaugurates 20 buses for Yobe public transport

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni on Tuesday inaugurated 20 new 18-seat Toyota Hiace buses for Yobe Transport Corporation and for the National Road Traffic Management Agency (YOROTA)

Speaking ahead of the inauguration of the buses at Damaturu Government House, Governor Mai Mala Buni said the occasion reiterates his administration’s commitment to improving affordable public transport and the welfare of the Yobe people.

He noted that “it is also a step to ensure safety on national roads, among others.

“Yobe Line buses were purchased from Westwood Motors Limited under interest-free contract financing at a total cost of Five Hundred Thirty Six Million Nine Hundred Fifty Four Thousand Four Hundred Thirty Seven Naira, Fifty Kobo ( 536,954,437.50) with Value Added Tax included.

The Governor thanked Westwood Motors for partnering with the Yobe State government in its post-insurgency recovery campaign, calling on other non-governmental organizations to do the same.

He also advises the management of YOROTA to properly use the equipment provided to them for the benefit of the state.

Earlier in his address, Transport and Energy Commissioner Abdullahi Usman Kukuwa appreciated the gesture.

Blueprint learned that two hundred and fifty marshals were also inaugurated for the Yobe State Road Traffic Management Agency.
