Everything you need to know about Abu Dhabi’s new express bus service

The express bus service routes currently connect Abu Dhabi City with four areas of Mohamed Bin Zayed City and Musaffah Industrial Zone. Buses can be identified with the prefix ‘E’ on the route number.

Buses currently run between the following locations:

• Abu Dhabi Main Bus Station and Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD) in Musaffah area – Bus E-01

• Main Bus Station in Abu Dhabi and Emirates Driving Company in Mussaffah Industrial Zone – E-02

• Abu Dhabi Main Bus Station and MBZ City Bus Station – E-03

• Main Bus Station in Abu Dhabi and Safeer Mall in Khalifa City – E-04

Abu Dhabi Express service times are as follows:

Monday to Friday: 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Weekends and public holidays: 5 a.m. to 1 a.m.

It will work between destinations every 10 minutes during peak hours, and every 25 minutes maximum outside peak hours.

The Abu Dhabi Express service does not use the Halifat Card, which is Abu Dhabi’s public transport card. Instead, commuters will have to pay 12 Dh in cash travel from one region to another with Abu Dhabi Express.

If you frequently use the public bus in Abu Dhabi, be aware that chewing gum, smoking, not showing your bus pass or a ticket can result in a fine. These are just a few examples, but violating public transport rules can result in a fine ranging from 100 Dh to 500 Dh. For the full list of fines, read here.

According to the Abu Dhabi Integrated Transport Center (ITC), there are plans to expand the bus service to different locations, such as Al Ain, Khalifa City, Bani Yas, Al Shahama and Al Falah.
