Popular bus service suspended in Karachi after heavy downpours

KARACHI: Peoples Bus Service has been suspended in Karachi after heavy downpours, ARY News reported.

According to the administration of the Peoples Bus Service, the Point station was submerged by rainwater, after which the service was suspended at 6:30 p.m.

The last fleet of the Peoples Bus Service left for Tower via Model Colony at 6 p.m. The administration said both lanes of the bus service from Model Morr to Model Town were flooded with rainwater.

Peoples Bus service will be restored tomorrow, the administration said.

Several areas of Karachi including Saddar, Nazimabad, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Malir, Shahrai-e-Faisal and other areas received heavy downpours, while in some areas the rain continues with breaks.

The third rainy day in the capital brought more hardship to commuters and pedestrians as rainwater pooled in low-lying areas.

The meteorological authority released a statement predicting that today will be gloomy with light to heavy monsoon rains in the port city.

“Strong wet currents are entering the high regions of the country. A westerly wave is also affecting the upper and central parts,” the weather service said.
